HOW ASIANS MAKE RICE

This is my newest vlog post. It tackles on how Asians make rice.  I am from the Philippines and I learned how to cook rice since I was six years old, it is a must for us. I remember, my mother and I  went to the hospital.  My younger brother was all alone at home.  When we got home, my poor brother cooked rice.  It was not done and burned.  He said that he was so hungry.

My uncle was staying with us then.  He left my brother without preparing anything, my brother was 8.  In order to cook, we had to use a gas stove, not the one that people are using now.  You have pump air for the gas to reach the burner.  It was very hard back then.  My mother was crying.. I will never forget that day.

So, it is really necessary for young people to learn how to cook.  Here is a short youtube video that I made and how proud I am of my heritage.

GINISANG AMPALAYA

Who wouldn't like a stir-fry vegetable? Today, I made ginisang ampalaya with eggs only, no meat. Ampalaya or bitte gourd in English, is a very healthy vegetable. I remember, my mother would force me to eat this because I "hate" the bitter taste of it. She could make it less bitter, though, by washing it with salt, no water but salt then she will rinse it with the water.

As I grew, I learned to love this crumpled vegetable. I don't even wash it with salt. I like the bitter taste of it now. It is best when partnered with fried fish. Mmm...

Ok, guys. I will enjoy my stir-fry bitter gourd vegetable and eat with rice. See you later.

Smiles to you all.

Homecooked

Does your husband prepares meal for you? You are one lucky wife, then!  I think I am, too. My husband is a good cook. He likes to prepare meals from scratch, like anything that's in the fridge? He will make a meal out of it, and it's pretty good.

I love homecooked meal. I grew up in a household where eating out is a treat, (thanks to my mother).

Anyways, without further adieu. Here is what he made for me today. It's burger with mushrooms and his own gravy. It was pretty good. Hats off to that.

What's For Dinner?

Tonight, I made pork with vegetables in sour broth or sinigang na baboy in Filipino. Most people in the Philippines grew up in a good homecooked meal, thanks to our beloved mothers and fathers, as well.

I always try to make Filipino dish so I don't feel so far away from home. Blessed enough, my husband loves to eat and it's a-must that we dine in together. My husband is half-Polish and they are very rich in tradition, as well. Very family oriented, like the Filipinos. So much so, Filipino and Polish traditions are somehow similar.

Anyways, here is the Pork Sinigang I made for tonight. I did not have kangkong or water spinach in English, so I used petchay (bok choy) as an alternative. It work just fine.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful night. Smiles to you all.

Filipina wife amazes a Navy Veteran

I was born and raised in the Philippines and grating coconut manually is a part of our heritage, Ha!  The first time my husband saw me grating a coconut, he was AMAZED! And now, it is his new thing.  If we go to the any stores and he sees a coconut, he would point at me, of course, I would grab one.

He also love to eat it, yes! He eats the coconut meat, the one we use for cooking? He's weird haha... Caucasian eating coconut. He is so adorable whenever he do that.

So, here I am grating coconut because he asked for it. Goof ball.

Did He Just Snubbed Me?

I just brought him back from his human grama and look how he did to me. This dog.

Hello, World

Hi, there.  My name is Theresa, married to a Stark.  I have been blogging before but I lost track due to heavy schedules.

I work as an STNA. I spend my free time with demanding three year old pit bull. He is the sweetest dog I've ever had in my whole 48 years.  Also, my three devilish cats who enjoys their buffet every minute.  They aren't fat, thank God!

This blog is all about the shenanigans that could ever happen to anybody, especially ME! Smiles to all.
